Harvest Against Hunger is a project of Rotary First Harvest in support of local hunger relief agencies. The project's mission is to connect farms, food banks, and volunteers to secure fresh produce for distribution to thousands of hungry families and individuals throughout Washington State.
HAH is expanding upon the original success of its project, increasing the number of AmeriCorps*VISTA working at food banks across Washington State from eight to ten. These new HAH VISTA will work from November 2010 to November 2011, continuing to build capacity for existing gleaning and harvesting projects or work to establish entirely new models.
Whether working with Second Harvest to strengthen gleaning operations in Eastern Washington or building support for a community garden in South Seattle, Harvest Against Hunger is committed to finding new and innovative ways to increase the availability of fresh and nutritious produce at food banks. Please view the Harvest VISTA Project Map for more details about all of HAH’s statewide activities.
