Harvest Against Hunger
Connecting farms, foodbanks and gleaners for statewide hunger relief

Harvest Against Hunger is a gleaning project of Rotary First Harvest in support of local hunger relief agencies. The project's mission is to glean unharvested tree fruits and other produce for distribution to thousands of hungry families and individuals throughout Washington State.

In its pilot season of 2008 HAH organized the gleaning and donation of 85,000 pounds of produce from farms across Washington for food banks. In 2009, the Recovery Act provided funding for seven AmeriCorps*VISTAs to work on the HAH program across Washington State. The program brought in over 250,000 pounds of produce, worked with 204 new agriculture donors, and served nearly 200,000 food bank clients. All of this was made possible by hard working volunteers, who served over 4,000 hours gleaning this food.
