Food
Lifeline
 |
Food Lifeline is a nonprofit
food distribution center. We work to provide nutritious food
to hungry, low-income people in Western Washington by supplying
over 250 food banks, meal programs and shelters with nearly
15 million pounds of food each year. |

Seattle's
Table
Our Seattle's Table program collects donations of prepared food,
which otherwise would be wasted, from over 40 local food service
providers. |

Produce
for the People
Our Produce for the People program rescues edible, but unmarketable,
fresh produce from local produce retailers and wholesalers. |
Northwest
Harvest
 |
Northwest Harvest collects
and distributes food to approximately 300 hunger programs in
Washington State. In an average month, these programs provide
nearly half a million services to people in need. More than
half of those served are children and the elderly. Our support
comes exclusively from individuals, community and religious
groups, foundations, corporations, and the food industry. |
Emergency
Food Network
 |
The Emergency Food Network
(EFN), established in 1982, is a non-profit food distribution
center in Pierce County, Washington providing food to over 70
food banks, hot meal sites, and shelters. |
Our mission is to see that no person in
Pierce County goes hungry.
Hunger is rarely an isolated problem. It is more often a symptom of
a larger problem impacting an individual's ability to gain and maintain
an adequate level of economic security.
While maintaining traditional ways of distributing food, EFN has two
additional programs; the Mother Earth Farm and Cannery Project. This
creates a more integrated system to deal with hunger.
Second
Harvest Inland Northwest
Second Harvest, founded
in 1971, is the pioneering organization that leads the fight
against hunger in the Inland Northwest. Today, partnerships
with more than 300 neighborhood food banks and meal centers
make it possible for Second Harvest to feed 48,000 hungry people
each week. Food from Second Harvest keeps children, families
and seniors from going hungry, and also puts a sense of hope
back into their lives. Second Harvest distributed more than
14 million pounds of food last year. Most of Second Harvest’s
donated food comes from the food industry. Community contributions
pay for transporting, warehousing and distributing this food
to partner charities. With generous support from 2,200 volunteers,
Second Harvest turns every donated dollar into six pounds of
food for a hungry family. |
