Okanogan

Okanogan County Community Action Council is a community building organization that works to raise the poor out of poverty, to feed the hungry, to provide affordable housing for all, and to empower community members through education.  This VISTA position is building capacity for local gleaning projects, produce donations, farmers market recovery, as well as develop the Food For All gardening and nutrition education program.

About the VISTA:

Okanogan County Community Action Council is connectin local farmers, food banks and volunteers to act as a distributive outlet for gleaned produce. This volunteer effort enables passage of resources to take place, and assisting people in need throughout Okanogan County. For the next year, Kyle will contribute towards, and learn about the process of nutrition assistance and hunger relief. Kyle’s pleased that OCCCAC, AmeriCorps and Rotary First Harvest have given him the opportunity to support himself, while working to assist others.
