A HAH AmeriCorps VISTA jumpstarted the gleaning program at Hopelink in Carnation during the fall of 2011. At that time, some local farms had worked with gleaners over the years and a couple of farms even incorporated gleaning into their mission by organizing annual produce recovery events. However, with the help of Harvest Against Hunger the project has spread its roots throughout this vibrant farming community. Currently, Hopelink Harvest works with growers to harvest and collect surplus produce from about a dozen farms and a farmers market.
