Interact Hunger and Food Waste Challenge

Sometimes, the best ideas to solve some of the toughest problems come from a small group of committed and creative people. Rotary First Harvest and Rotary District 5030 are pleased to announce a new competition to help Interact clubs devise and develop new ways to tackle the issue of hunger and food waste in our communities: The 2017 Hunger and Food Waste Challenge.

Interact clubs in District 5030 are invited to submit their big idea to end hunger and food waste in their community or in their school. Collaboration with other community partners is encouraged. A panel of experts will choose the top three entries. Winning Interact clubs will receive a cash prize to help launch their project later this year.

First Prize = $500
Second Prize = $300
Third Prize = $200

Prior to submitting your idea, we encourage you to research hunger and food waste to learn more about each of these problems. A good place to start your research is on the RFH Hunger and Food Waste information page. You can also check out our Harvest Against Hunger page to learn more about how that program is developing new solutions in communities across Washington and in six states around the country.
